Boulder Baked has started opening at noon for dine-in and pick-up. We started this yesterday and it seems people are figuring it out. As things keep building we may begin delivery earlier as well, but for the present time delivery starts at 5PM.

February 3rd, 2009We have developed a red velvet cupcake just in time for Valentine’s Day. We have been trying for months to come up with a red velvet recipe that didn’t have all of the usual food coloring. Unfortunately, we are still working on it, BUT we decided to offer a traditional one in the meantime. Stay tuned.
Closed for Thanksgiving Thursday and Friday

Boulder Baked New Location Rocks!
November 23rd, 2008Well, we’ve been in the new location for a couple of months now (1911 Broadway, between Pearl and Walnut) and things are going great! Many of our customers for the last 5 years have found us and lots of new folks as well. It was a pretty major undertaking for us to finish out the new space and get moved in.
I was just looking at the blog and realized it’s been about a year since I’ve added posts. What’s up with that? I’m going to try and be a bit more diligent, but I’ve never been much of a writer.
This business has been quite a ride! In many ways it’s like my other start-ups although all of them were in the Internet space in one way or another. This one has a much more tangible product. Labor, as in all of my other endeavors, is the primary challenge here as well. It’s tough to assemble a team of people who genuinely care about quality and customer service (As an aside, if anyone knows of anyone who wants to become part of Boulder Baked, just send them our way!).

Fall Break
November 15th, 2007We will be on a limited schedule for Fall Break (Thanksgiving week). The university is closed for the entire week, and, basically, so are we. We are taking the opportunity to update and rearrange our operation, so everything will be pretty torn up.
We are taking special orders for Thanksgiving now and have quite a few people who want full pies and desserts, so get your order in quickly.
Opening Earlier at 4PM
November 6th, 2007Well, we’re trying it. Everyone has been asking us to open earlier so we’re going to crawl before we walk. Starting today, 11/6/07, we are opening for pick-up at 4PM. We plan to see what we can do about delivery and even opening at noon, perhaps first of the year.
MocaPay
October 27th, 2007We have now installed MocaPay so customers can pay via their cellphone with a MocaPay subscription. This service looks interesting and hopefully membership in Boulder will grow both within the student community and local residents.
New Cupcake Combinations
October 27th, 2007Night before last we had a smidgen of time, so we tried putting together a lot of new combinations of cupcakes and icing. For example, we tried the strawberry cupcake with vanilla icing and the vanilla cupcake with strawberry icing. We were giving out free samples and I think we have a hit! We are going to be putting these combinations together somewhat regularly now so ask for them. Also, if you have something you would like us to try, just let us know. Thanks.
CU Parents Weekend
October 24th, 2007Thanks so much to all of the parents of CU students who stopped by Boulder Baked. It was great meeting you! We did our best to extend our hours by opening in the afternoon even with only two of us in the kitchen. That was sure an experience to remember. We hope to extend the hours every week soon. I hope you enjoyed the cookies.
